Here is our busy programme of events for 2003. Each concert features professional guest artistes from the UK (mainly England and Wales) together with the Choir's soloists Jo Paine, Jean Vidamour and Ruth Smale. The Friendship Company of juniors and teenagers often feature in our concerts. The 'Sing for Sark' and the 'Lite Menu'/Freetime carnival groups will feature in Sark in June and the Town Carnival in August and at other events as requested. The first major event this year will be the Good Friday concert on 18th April at St James. The evening will offer a profound portrayal of the events of those biblical times from Palm Sunday through to the crucifixion of Christ. Next will be our Liberation celebration concert 'Last Night at the Proms' on 9th May at St James. This will take us up to our two holiday-maker concerts on 8th June and 6th July both at St James An annual event of the Choir is informal carol singing in the town of St Peter Port. However to round off the year, most popular of all will be the 'An amazing two nights of Christian fun and festivity' - carols, bells, party hats and seasonal music for everyone at St James with a special performance from the Childrens' choir Friendship Company. The Christmas Carol Festival concerts will be on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th December 2003 CALENDAR FOR 2003 | Date | Time | Details | | February/March | | Eisteddfod Competition at Town Church | | 18th April | 7.45 pm | Music for a Good Friday at St James with guest performer Christian blind pianist Peter Jackson. The evening offers a profound and moving portrayal of the events of those biblical times from Palm Sunday through to the crucifixion of Christ. Peter Jackson will be the narrator and self-accompanist for the evening. Tickets £6 | | 9th May | 7.00pm | Liberation Guernsey concert 'Last Night of the Proms' style. Flags and fervent singing by the audience and choir happily dressed in red, white and blue (especially hats), on this public holiday, celebrating Peace and Freedom. Finishes 9.20pm so that you can then watch the fireworks display in town at 10.00pm. | | 8th June | 8.30pm | Finale Concert for Floral Guernsey at St James (celebrate God's Creation and Wonder - Praise in Creation) with guest star Rachel Jones. A chorale concert with guests the Cordall family to end a wonderful week of elegance, beautiful flowers, aroma and fauna. | | 6th July | 8.30pm | Summertime - a seasonal visitors summer Concert at St James. An end of series concert with two choirs and guests. | | 3rd/4th October | 7.30pm | Voices for Hospices (tri-annual global concert) - two concerts - two programs. Great concerts with guests Cantemus and The Guernsey Girls' Choir (Regional Finalists Sainsburys BBC Competition, with Director Christine Antony). Choir Visits and Special Events for 2003Trips are planned to Wales (St David's Hall and Jersey) 14th June: 'Sing for Sark' with Freetime Singers concert 4.15pm at the Sark Hall.
